Cape Home Solutions ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). This policy explains what we collect, why, how we look after it, and the rights you have.
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you complete our offer-request form or otherwise contact us, we collect the details you provide — typically your name, email address, phone number, the address and suburb of the property, the property type and condition, and anything else you choose to share with us.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep basic technical logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited) for security and performance. We do not currently use advertising or tracking cookies on this site.
How we use your information
- To respond to your enquiry and contact you about selling your property.
- To assess your property and prepare and discuss an offer.
- To carry out a property transaction if you choose to proceed — which may include sharing the details needed with conveyancing attorneys.
- To keep proper business records and to comply with our legal obligations.
Our lawful basis for processing
We process your personal information lawfully under POPIA — primarily because you have provided it and consented to be contacted by submitting our form, because it is necessary to take steps at your request, and to pursue our legitimate interest in responding to your enquiry. You can withdraw your consent to be contacted at any time (see your rights below).
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone. We share it only where necessary:
- Service providers who help us operate — for example, the third-party form-handling service that delivers your enquiry to our inbox, our email provider, and our website host.
- Conveyancing attorneys and related professionals, but only if you decide to proceed with a sale.
- Authorities or regulators where we are required to do so by law.
Some of our service providers may process information outside South Africa. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information continues to receive an appropriate level of protection.
How long we keep it
We keep your personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected — to handle your enquiry and any resulting transaction — and for as long as the law requires. After that, we delete or anonymise it.
How we protect it
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to keep your personal information secure. Our website is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection. No method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, but we work to safeguard your information appropriately.
Your rights under POPIA
You have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy of it.
- Ask us to correct or update information that is inaccurate or out of date.
- Ask us to delete your information, or object to our processing of it, in the circumstances allowed by law.
- Withdraw your consent to being contacted at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, just email us at hello@capehomesolutions.co.za.
Complaints
If you have any concern about how we handle your personal information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa), the body responsible for POPIA.
